Rangers and Ondrej Kudela tensions spark security beef up as Czech Republic take extra Euro 2020 action

The Czech Republic have toughened up security measures for arriving in Scotland following lingering tension between Slavia Prague's racism shame at Ibrox.

Boss Jaroslav Silhavy will pick disgraced Slavia defender Ondrej Kudela in his Euro 2020 squad if he wins his appeal against a 10-game for racially abusing Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.

Steve Clarke 's side open their campaign agains the Czechs at Hampden on June 14.

Silhavy is set to name his provisional squad for the finals and could yet include Kudela.

And he's revealed they will travel to Edinburgh - where they are staying at Scotland's own usual training base of Oriam - with additional security personnel.

He said: "The security group who usually travels with us will be expanded by more staff. If they signal to us something is going on, they will make a judgement call on what to do.

"I think the Rangers affair has subsided a bit, but I can't guess what will happen.

"Maybe when we arrive, the Scots will remember about the Slavia game and their fans will whistle at us.

"But I don't think we will be scared of that or that someone in Edinburgh might shout at us.

"Before the first match against Scotland, I will remind them of what happened. It's a warning to behave.

"We don't have a psychologist on the pitch! But we do have players like Tomas Soucek or Alex Kral, who are able to calm it down if someone doesn't control themselves.

"We warn players what the dangers may be and keep them calm. But I don't think there's any threat of anyone on the team doing something reckless after the Glasgow incident."

And Silhavy is awaiting UEFA's decision on Kudela's appeal with great interest.

He said: "Of course I know what's happening with him and his appeal. I still have a hope that he could be free to play. We will wait until the last moment for him."
