Rangers and Celtic paired together in Scottish Cup if Ibrox men reach fourth round

Rangers and Celtic will face off in the Scottish Cup fourth round, should the Ibrox men beat Cove Rangers in the third round tonight.

The Ibrox men host their League One rivals on Sunday night but the fourth round draw took place on Sunday afternoon.

And there was a surprising draw as the Old Firm were paired together in what should be a crunch clash at Ibrox on the weekend of April 17.

It's a huge game with Celtic looking to get the only silverware available to them while Rangers are hoping to win the Scottish Cup for the first time in more than a decade.

And both sides will know they would give themselves a massive chance of lifting the trophy by knocking their bitter rivals out of the tournament at this stage.

Rangers are yet to win a cup competition under Steven Gerrard and have never reached Hampden for a Scottish Cup semi-final under the Scouser.

It could also be a first Old Firm game for Celtic's new boss, if Eddie Howe is appointed in time and brought immediately to look at his team.

The fifth round draw also took place, with the winners of Rangers or Cove Rangers vs Celtic facing St Johnstone or Clyde.
