Rangers and Celtic legends set for star turns at Ayrshire Junior clubs

Former Old Firm favourites Frank McAvennie and Ian Durrant are the star turns at two Ayrshire Junior football clubs next weekend.

McAvennie, who helped Celtic to a Scottish Premier Division and Scottish Cup double in their centenary season (1987/88), is set to take part in a question and answer night at Ardrossan Winton Rovers on Friday, November 29.

Fans will be regaled with tales of the former striker's colourful career at the Winton Supporters Club, located within the club's ground Winton Park.

The event will take place between 7.30pm and 11.30pm. Tickets, £10, include a buffet and are available from committee members or 07969 241895.

McAvennie's old on-field foe, Durrant will be a guest speaker at Saltcoats Victoria's sportsman's brunch which will be held in the town's Bar One on Sunday, December 1.

The Gers nine-in-a-row hero has been booked to appear alongside Joe Camay and compere Jim Morrison.

The event will kick off at 12.30pm and tickets, £20, are available now behind the bar at the venue.  There's limited availability and briefs will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.
