Rangers and Celtic learn Scottish Cup quarter-final fate as road to Hampden continues

Rangers and Celtic have discovered who they will face in the Scottish Cup quarter-final.

Michael Beale and his holders overcame a scare from Scottish Championship side Partick Thistle in a five-goal thriller. The Ibrox clash was full of drama including two penalties and an unforgettable moment involving Malik Tillman. Kevin Holt opened the scoring from the spot after a VAR review penalised Antonio Colak for handball. Five minutes into the second period the Croatian hitman levelled before James Tavernier was denied from 12-yards by Jamie Sneddon. Michael Beale then ordered his side to gift the Jags a goal after Tillman's controversial goal to make it 2-1 before an own goal sent Rangers into the next stage.

It was a lot more straight forward for Ange Postecoglou and his troops who ran out big 5-1 winners. It was a tight game with a single goal the difference right up until the final 15 minutes with St Mirren reduced to ten-men for a handball on the line with Reo Hatate converting from the spot. He grabbed his second in the 95th minute with Daizen Maeda, Matt O'Riley and Oh Hyeon-gyu also on the scoresheet for the relentless Scottish champions.
