Rangers and Celtic fans could watch matches using virtual season tickets under SPFL plan

Rangers and Celtic fans could be able to watch their club in action using virtual season tickets, under new SPFL plans.

The league body is reportedly in talks with Sky Sports about the proposal, which would allow clubs to generate extra revenue while stadiums are shut off.

The Daily Record reports that Sky Sports, who hold exclusive SPFL rights for the next five years, are understanding of the need for clubs to raise additional cash during the pandemic.

Should plans be given the green light then clubs would be able to broadcast matches live to paying supporters.

According to the Record discussions are at an "advanced" stage, although clubs are waiting "for exact details of how such an agreement would be structured".

It emerged last week that the Scottish Football Joint Response Group were planning for the Scottish Premiership season to get underway on the weekend August 1 and 2, with top flight clubs to resume training later this month.
