Rangers and Celtic 'dirtiness' rating as foul frequencies across Europe are revealed

Rangers are the tenth ‘cleanest’ team in Europe according to the stats.

Research carried out by the CIES Football Observatory shows how often teams from the continent are committing fouls during games.

The more minutes between fouls, the ‘cleaner’ the team and the Scottish Premiership champions sneak into the top ten.

Rangers commit a foul every 10:13 minutes, which works out at 334 fouls across 36 matches.

Steven Gerrard’s side are just behind English Premier League champions Manchester City with a foul every 10:15 minutes and Rubin Kazan on 10:08 minutes.

The cleanest outfit were Russian League leaders Zenit St Petersburg, who commit a foul every 12:34 minutes with 222 across 29 matches.

Russian clubs made up the top three with FC Krasnodar and CSKA Moscow coming in behind their compatriots.

The highest ranking British club is Arsenal, with Kieran Tierney’s side committing a foul on average every 10:44 minutes.

Celtic were ranked 31st on this list, committing a foul every 09:21 minutes with 366 over 36 games, sandwiched in between Waasland-Beveren of Belgium and Crystal Palace.
