Rangers and Celtic Colts sees Lowland League club president resign in protest

Civil Service Strollers president Russell Pryde has stepped down from his role at the club over Rangers and Celtic Colts' inclusion in next season's Lowland League.

Mr Pryde says it has nothing to do with the club, but because they're associated "with a decision that agrees that buying rule change is acceptable".

It's understood that East Kilbride, Caledonian Braves and Cumbernauld Colts all backed the inclusion of the Glasgow giants' 'B' teams in the league, with each of Rangers and Celtic paying £25,000 for their inclusion on a one-season-only basis, with exemption from promotion or relegation.

A statement issued by Civil Service Strollers read: "Russell Pryde has informed the club that he intends to stand down as the president of Civil Service Strollers at the forthcoming club AGM.

"Russell's resignation included the following statement:

"It is with great regret that I will be resigning as president of Civil Service Strollers.

"My issue is not with the club, it is with being associated with a decision that agrees that buying rule change is acceptable.

"I remain committed to the club and will offer my support in different ways."
