Rangers and Celtic Colts in League 2 back on the table as SPFL 'to discuss' league reconstruction

The latest bid to reconstruct the SPFL pyramid could see Celtic and Rangers B team introduced into League Two

Celtic and Rangers have both been wanting Colts teams in League Two for years but have faced opposition to the plans by lower league clubs and supporters.

However, this season the pair were given admission to the Lowland League as an addition to the set-up for one year.

Now a report claims that plans have been put forward to allow the side to enter the fourth tier for the start of the 2022/23 campaign.

STV report that the SPFL will hold reconstruction talks tomorrow and that the addition of Rangers and Celtic Colt sides will be on the table.

The plan to introduce the Glasgow reserve sides into the bottom tier has often been rubbished by players and staff in League One and League Two.

The proposal looks set to be revived again with a view to the future after their tier five debut.

The B teams from the Premiership sides have also previously been introduced into the Challenge Cup.
