Rangers and Celtic boo boys picked up by BBC commentator as he explains Filip Helander's mixed Euro 2020 welcome

BBC commentator Jonathan Pearce had to issue an explainer to supporters south of the border on why Filip Helander was greeted with a smattering of boos at Hampden.

The Rangers defender was met with a mix of cheers and jeers by supporters during the Euro 2020 clash in Glasgow between Sweden and Ukraine after former Celtic star Mikael Lustig also received some pantomime boos.

It was a nightmare night for the Swedes as they suffered last-gasp heartache as Andriy Shevchenko's side scored in the dying seconds to set up a clash with England in Rome.

And veteran commentator Pearce was forced into a brief explainer of why the Ibrox stalwart wasn't met with universal acclaim upon his arrival.

Pearce said: "It's fair to say gets a mixed reaction, Filip Helander at Hampden.

"Celtic supporters I don't think have welcomed him with open arms and Rangers fans here have."

Lustig was also treated to some boo boys and the Celtic icon wouldn't have expected anything else considering his love for nosing up Rangers and their supporters.

His exuberant celebrations against the Ibrox side were part of his persona and he also sported a beach ball and policeman's hat while celebrating goals against his fiercest rivals.
