Rangers and Celtic 'B' teams reconstruction proposal sparks outrage from fans

Rangers are reportedly proposing both Old Firm clubs would have 'B' teams in the bottom tier of a 14-14-18 league reconstruction for next season.

The idea of changing the set up of the SPFL is still on the table to avoid the likes of Hearts and Partick Thistle being relegated and to combat the financial hit of the coronavirus, especially in the lower leagues.

The Jambos and Ann Budge have been spearheading the movement, but now the Light Blues have entered the equation.

And the Ibrox club have put forward a new format made up of three divisions, 14-14-18, with Rangers and Celtic 'B' sides paying to enter the league, claims BBC Scotland.

Kelty Hearts and Brora Rangers would also be invited to the SPFL in League One.

The idea of Rangers and Celtic colt teams has been previously discussed, but it has never gone down well with supporters.

And there was a similar response among Scottish football fans for this new proposal.

@S2Plu82 said: "No colt teams. Give the lower league clubs a chance. "

@celticchampionz added: "Embarrassing. Give it up, fs."

@martin_vardy tweeted: "Absolute joke. That is all."

@AberdeenTartanA said: "They can’t help themselves. No, no and no again!"

@danielharris70 added: "Absolute crazy idea."

@drpeterjbrown tweeted: "B Teams? No thank you."
