Lowland League clubs have given the green light to Rangers and Celtic B teams joining their set-up next season after a vote tonight.
Following the AGM of fifth tier clubs the Glasgow giants will be allowed to put their youngsters into the division next season.
The plan was given the thumbs up by the majority of member clubs in an indicative vote ahead earlier this month ahead of the final vote.
The proposal will see the Premiership youngsters frozen out of promotion or relegation but has split opinion among some managers in the Lowland League.
Rangers and Celtic pledged to pay £25,000 each to join as they look to get regular competitive action for their youngsters.
The new-look Lowland League will only be set in stone for one season as it stands.
League chairperson, George Fraser following the decision: “The member clubs have voted in favour of this proposal that was put to them earlier this month.
“Whilst it wasn’t unanimous the majority of member clubs are in favour of it and ultimately the members made the decision, which is only right in a democracy.
“Our board will now get to work on moving forward with plans to get the new season started on July 17.”
