Rangers and Aberdeen discover potential Europa League play-off opponents

Rangers and Aberdeen have been offered a glimpse into their potential Europa League play-off round fate.

The Premiership duo go into the hat for Monday's draw in Nyon unseeded - and that could result in hugely tough opposition.

UEFA have released the groups ahead of the big reveal after both sides successfully navigated their second round ties on Thursday night.

Aberdeen hammered Chikhura Sachkhere 5-0 at Pittodrie while Rangers progressed on aggregate despite being held to a goalless draw by Progres Niederkorn in Luxembourg.

Of course, there's now the small matter of the third round with Rangers taking on Midtjylland and Aberdeen facing Rijeka.

But the play-off ties will be drawn before those fixtures take place and that means both Steven Gerrard and Derek McInnes' sides will go into the hat.

Rangers have been placed into Group 1 and the immediate eye-catcher is a potential clash against Wolves.

Also in the mix are the likes of PSV Eindhoven, Legia Warsaw and Steau Bucharest.

PSV dropped out of Champions League qualifying after losing out to Swiss champions FC Basel.

Aberdeen 's path is similarly intimidating as they are plunged into Group 2.

That means ties against seeded sides Feyenoord, Espanyol or Gent are a possibility for the Dons.

The draw takes place at 12.30pm UK time on Monday and here's a full look at Rangers' and Aberdeen's groups.
