Rangers ace Kemar Roofe thanks staff after baby son hospitalised for five days

Rangers ace Kemar Roofe has paid tribute to the "amazing" nurses and doctors who treated his baby son when he was hospitalised for five days.

Little Cassius was admitted to hospital in Glasgow last week after taking ill.

He was treated at the Royal Hospital for Children for bronchiolitis and a chest infection.

The illness ruled the Rangers striker out of his team's defeat to Dundee United on Saturday.

Bronchiolitis is a common lung infection in young children and infants which causes inflammation and congestion in the small airways.

Roofe took to Instagram to update fans and well-wishers on the condition of Cassius, who was only born last month.

He also paid tribute to the staff who treated his baby son.

Before the Gers took on Malmo on Tuesday night, the 28-year-old shared a video of himself holding the tot in his arms as he reflected on the stay in hospital.

He said: "Cassius said he needed to be back home to watch the boys tonight! @rangersfc.

"Thank you for all the messages wishing my striker a speedy recovery from bronchiolitis and a chest infection.

"5 tough nights at Royal Hospital for Children but the nurses and doctors on ward 2c were amazing."

Rangers confirmed that last week that Roofe's young child had been admitted to hospital after the ace missed Saturday's defeat at Dundee United.

Fans from across the Old Firm divide voiced their support for the striker following this announcement, as people wished him well on social media.

Cassius is the youngest of Roofe's three children, as he also has two daughters, Alarnie and Luna.
