Rangers 2 Mansfield 0 as Sheyi Ojo makes instant impact and Greg Docherty nets long-range stunner

Shey Ojo netted a debut goal for Rangers as they beat Mansfield at their Portugal training camp.

The Liverpool loanee scored in the first of three half-hour periods and Greg Docherty grabbed the decisive goal before the final whistle.

Steven Gerrard handed debuts to all seven pf his summer arrivals against the English League Two outfit, with Joe Aribo, Steven Davis, George Edmundson, Jordan Jones, Greg Stewart, Jake Hastie and Ojo all getting game time in the Algarve.

And comeback hero Jamie Murphy was given his first start since suffering a cruciate knee

But it was Ojo who grabbed the first goal of the new campaign after good work on the left flank.

Rangers should have been two ahead but Stewart was denied before Gerrard changed it up again for the last part of the game.Ibrox kids McPake, Stephen Kelly, Lewis Mayo, Dapo Mebude and Jamie Barjonas were all given a run-out, as well as last season's top scorer Morelos.

The Colombian looked sharp up front and was unlucky not to score before Docherty sealed the victory.

The midfielder, who's back at Rangers after a successful loan stint at Shrewsbury Town, hit a stunning 20-yard drive into the corner of the net.

Gerrard and his squad will fly back to Glasgow on Sunday to prepare for their next match, a friendly with Oxford United at Ibrox next weekend.
