Rangers 2-1 Hibs: Jack Ross' side suffers late defeat after taking first-half lead at Ibrox

Hibs fell to a late defeat at the hands of Rangers, despite taking a first half lead at Ibrox.

The Easter Road club, who were keen to atone for the 3-0 defeat in December, ultimately leave Govan empty handed thanks to a goal from Rangers new boy Ianis Hagi six minutes from time.

Despite the defeat, Hibs will remain in the top six, one point above Killie who sit in seventh.

Hibs opened the scoring in 35 minutes through Paul Hanlon. The defender rifled past Alan McGregor from close range following a mistake from the Rangers 'keeper.

The Ibrox side levelled just through the break thanks to a George Edmunson strike before Ianis Hagi netted the winner with just a few minutes to play.

Hibs keeper Ofir Marciano made a number of excellent saves throughout the match to keep his side in the match, and within touching distance of an excellent result.

Next up for Jack Ross and his side is a trip to play BSC Glasgow in the Scottish Cup fifth round on Sunday afternoon.
