Range Rover Velar named in survey as Britain’s 'least satisfying' new car

A £44,000 Range Rover has been named as Britain’s “least satisfying” new car.

Owners of the Velar model moaned about electrical faults, poor rear visibility and “iffy reliability”.

They were the unhappiest among a survey of 43,000 car buyers carried out by consumer champions Which?.

The annual report said: “Paying a premium for a model from a luxury brand would seem an easy way to ensure your driving life is as stress-free as possible, but owners of some brands would disagree.

“It’s disappointing to see the Velar as the least satisfying new car as, on the face of it, it’s as quiet, cosseting and tech-laden as you’d expect.”

At the other end of the scale was the sleek Alfa Romeo Giulia saloon.

Despite the Italian marque’s reputation for unreliable motors it was named the most satisfying new car.

Costing £10,000 less than the Velar, drivers praised the Giulia’s power and handling.

Which? said its testers found the car less “rounded” than German rivals but admitted owners were clearly “smitten”.

The Lexus GS saloon was named most satisfying used car, with pre-2010 Vauxhall Merivas the least.
