Randy Brown upset by Jared Gooden’s weight miss, calls for 50 percent fines moving forward

Randy Brown isn’t happy about what went down on Friday morning.

The UFC veteran successfully made weight for his welterweight contest at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 194 in Las Vegas, but his opponent did not. Jared Gooden came in at 174 pounds – three pounds over the limit of non-championship welterweight bouts.

The bout will still go on as planned, and Gooden (18-6 MMA, 1-2 UFC) will forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Brown (13-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) in penalty for the weight miss. But even then Brown is not happy about that.

Dude misses weigh by 4 1/2 lbs lol (laughing out loud),” Brown wrote on Twitter. “Ok I get 20% from purse, but the issue is homie only got 3 fights in the UFC. He’s prob making like 15grand. So I get 20% of that in exchange for a weight advantage smh (shaking my head). Gotta start hitting these dudes for like 50% #unapologeticallyoverweight.”

Brown is looking to build momentum in the UFC, and he’s currently coming off a submission win over fellow veteran Alex Oliveira. Brown is 3-1 in his past four bouts ,with his only defeat coming to top contender Vicente Luque.

Meanwhile, Gooden picked up his first UFC win in his most recent bout, knocking out Niklas Stolze in July. The win put an end to a two-fight losing streak that marked the start of his UFC career.
