Random vehicle search leads Leeds police to huge industrial-sized cannabis farm

Police have busted a giant cannabis farm in Leeds after a routine stop-and-search of a vehicle led them to the illegal operation.

Officers pulled a car over shortly before 10pm on Tuesday, June 1, and discovered a man had a large haul of the Class B drug in the vehicle.

This then led them to a building on Beech Road, Armley, where they found an industrial-sized cannabis farm.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At approximately 9:44pm on Tuesday 1 June, officers executed a warrant at a premises on Beech Road, Armley, where an industrial-sized cannabis farm was located.

"The warrant was executed following a stop and search of a vehicle in on the morning of 1 June where a man was found to be in possession of a significant amount of cannabis.

A 35-year-old man from Leeds has since been arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply.

Being found in possession of Class B drugs can carry a maximum jail term of five years, while offenders found guilty of supply and production can face up to 14 years behind bars.
