Online job services will be put to the test by a new agency to ensure they are getting the best results for unemployed Australians.

The Australian Centre for Evaluation will work with the employment department to use randomised controlled trials to evaluate different features of online employment services.

The trials are expected to start in 2024 and follow a call in the Employment White Paper to improve job services.

"The Australian Centre for Evaluation will save taxpayers money and improve the quality of government programs, starting with these evaluations of employment services programs," Assistant Treasury Minister Andrew Leigh said.
