Stranger reunites bride with engagement ring 30 minutes after her brother lost it

There are a handful of items no one ever wants to lose, and an engagement ring is probably a popular one.

Imagine having to explain that one and, even if you're lucky enough to get a replacement, it's not quite the same.

One Mumsnet user recently feared the worst for her ring after a trip to the gym.

But in a "what are the odds?" type of tale, a complete stranger reunited it with her just half an hour later.

The bride-to-be initially turned to Mumsnet to help in a post which read:

(Mumsnet)

"So I went to the gym, was working out with my brother but it kept slipping so I asked him put it in his pocket.

"We left there, popped to the shop where he bought a protein bar and then he got on the 142 bus to Highgate and I headed to Kentish Town.

"Only remembered I hadn't got it off him when I was on my way to Kentish Town so I texted him and he checked his pockets, it wasn't there."

(Mumsnet)

While it would be tempting to send the brother to sort this out, the bride-to-be instead took matters into her own hands,

Miraculously, within minutes of posting, another woman said that she was in the area and would retrace the bride-to-be's steps.

Even more miraculously, less than half an hour later she reported that she'd found a ring outside the newsagent's where they'd got the protein bar from.

This whipped up other users into a frenzy of excitement as they waited for the bride-to-be to confirm that it was indeed her ring.

(Mumsnet)

"That really does look like it," wrote one woman. "Can’t believe you found it."

After the bride-to-be confirmed it was her ring - to great delight - she arranged to meet the good Samaritan ans rewarded her "in true MN fashion [...] with a bottle of wine and a box of fudge."

While some users were left skeptical of the unlikely turn of events, Mumsnet confirmed that it had all taken place.
