Random facts about signing day recruits

Feb. 04--We searched the archives and university websites to cull some quirky or interesting facts about several college football recruits who committed on national signing day.

Equanimeous St. Brown, wide receiver (Notre Dame)

His full name is Equanimeous Tristan Imhotep J. St. Brown. He has two younger brothers who play football, Osiris and Amon-Ra. Their father's name is John Brown.

Byron Cowart, defensive end (Auburn)

Rival.com's No. 1 prospect was at first rejected by his future coach at Armwood High School in Seffner, Fla., Sean Callahan, because Callahan mistook the 6-foot-3, 220-pound boy for a high school junior seeking a transfer, the coach told the Tampa Bay Times. Cowart was in middle school at the time.

Cameron Green, wide receiver (Northwestern)

His father, Mark Green, was a former Notre Dame and Bears running back. The Bears drafted him in the fifth round in 1989 and he played for four seasons.

Roquan Smith, linebacker (UCLA)

Smith told UGASports.com that he had both Georgia and UCLA gear in his bag during his televised announcement on ESPNU. "I made the decision right there. It was just the feeling right then. I'm really not 100-percent confident in it. I had to do something, so I just went with it."
