RANCHI: A jilted lover and two of his accomplices reportedly attacked and killed the girl (17) for spurning him, along with her brother (14) and injured their mother (40) here in the early hours of Saturday. The mother is now undergoing treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims).
The family of the girl was living in a rented house and her father was away in Abu Dhabi working as a welder for a company. The girl was studying in Class XII at a city school along with her deceased brother, who was in Class IX.
Police said the assailants stabbed the victims with a sharp object. The door of the first floor was opened, suggesting that assailants fled from the roof, they said.
Neighbours said they spotted blood oozing out from the house of victims in the morning and informed the girl’s grandfather who lives in the next lane. The grandfather opened the doors to find his daughter lying injured in the front room while his granddaughter was dead. He also found that his grandson was injured and lying in a pool of blood in the next room. The mother and son duo was rushed to the hospital where the boy succumbed during treatment.
SP (city) Anshuman Kumar and a team of police reached the spot to conduct an investigation. A forensic science laboratory team also examined the spot for clues.
Kumar said, “We have registered an FIR based on the statement of the mother of the deceased.
