RAMGARH: Over 50 students of Ram Prasad Chandrabhan Saraswati Vidya Mandir at Chhattar-Mandu area in Ramgarh town had a close shave early on Friday when their school bus overturned around 8km away from Ramgarh civil court on NH-23.
Officer in-charge of Ramgarh police station Rohit Kumar Mahto said, “The bus was its way to school from Lodhma village when a spring plate of the vehicle broke off and the driver lost control. The bus veered off into a hedge by the side of the highway and overturned. Five suffered injuries.”
The students were pulled out of the vehicle by police and the residents of nearby villages, Mahto added.
Parents protested outside the main gate of the school campus, alleging lack of maintenance of the vehicles by the management and overcrowding.
In an another incident, a trailer en route to Hazaribag from Ranchi rammed into a temple at Naya More on NH-33. Temple caretaker Rekha Singh (57) died.
