Ranchi: Furnish report on June 10 violence, High Court directs government

RANCHI: The Jharkhand high court on Friday ordered the government to furnish a report on the June 10 violence in the city, which resulted in the death of two persons and injuries to several others.

Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice S N Prasad passed the order while hearing a PIL in connection with the violence and filed by one Pankaj Yadav. The court directed the government to mention what steps have been taken to nab the culprits and its future course of action.

The double bench also asked the government counsels as to how the stones were gathered and pelted on police personnel. Media reports have said that shots were fired at the police, too. The court observed that such actions cannot be tolerated and the miscreants will be taken to task.

The bench also wanted to know the status of intelligence inputs of the state government.

The case will again be heard on June 24.
