'Ran a mile' - Fans react as Nottingham Forest suffer transfer blow

Nottingham Forest look set to miss out on Manchester City attacker Morgan Rogers amid claims he is on the verge of wrapping up a loan move to Bournemouth.

Several reports today claimed the Cherries had moved to the front of the queue for the highly-rated youngster, who impressed during a season-long loan at Lincoln City last term.

Forest had hoped to add Rogers in a bid to pep up their attack as they look to arrest a poor start to the season, which continued with a 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night.

And Reds fans have been reacting on social media after being updated on Rogers' situation. We had a look on Twitter to see what they had to say.

Just a 50-year-old Nottingham lad: "Why would anyone with a choice opt to join Forest right now? Let’s be honest, there’s nothing particularly attractive about joining us, is there? A season fighting relegation with one of the dullest styles of play and tactics imaginable."

Sam Crawford: "Can't blame the lad tbf. If he's going to get regular game-time at Bournemouth that's a no brainer."

Will Plumb: "Why would anyone want to come to NFFC if they’ve seen us this season? If I was James Garner I’d probably pick any of the other teams after him. Yes, very negative, but do we have anything to be positive about? We are going to be five games in with only survival to play for."

Jpp: "He’s seen how Forest play and ran a mile."

Mark Shaw: "What a surprise he doesn’t want to come to NFFC. No promising talent would come to play that dire football. Especially after sitting in the ground watching it on Saturday."

Rob: "Not surprised as we are not or won’t be in a position to challenge this season. I reckon can forget Garner on that principle."

Shaun: "You're a young, exciting, attacking player. Would you come to NFFC?"

Rogers, a team-mate of Brennan Johnson at Lincoln last season, set tongues wagging after attending the Reds' defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend, with many speculating he was watching Forest.

But it has turned out that the Cherries are now favourites to clinch his signature, and they reportedly also have the option to sign the 19-year-old for £9m at the end of the season.
