Rams won’t host international game in 2020, unlikely to be road team

For the first time in four seasons, the Los Angeles Rams aren’t scheduled to play one of their home games outside the country. Since moving back to L.A. in 2016, the Rams have had an international game on their schedule each year; in 2018, they were supposed to play in Mexico City but the game was moved due to poor field conditions.

Rams COO Kevin Demoff told reporters on Wednesday after a tour of SoFi Stadium that the team won’t host an international game in 2020, and probably not in the next five years, either. They could still be a road team in a game outside the U.S., but that won’t cost them a home game the way it has in recent years.

In 2016, the Rams played the Giants in London. They faced the Cardinals in London the following year, too, and this past season, they hosted the Bengals at Wembley Stadium. It’ll be a nice break from losing one home game each year, and it sounds unlikely they’ll have to travel outside the country at all for a game.

The Rams are 2-0 in international games under Sean McVay, so the long travel didn’t seem to faze them anyway.
