Von Miller is likely a future Hall of Famer and one of the best pass rushers of this generation. Somehow, the Rams found a way to add him to their defense, acquiring him from the Broncos for two draft picks.
And to sweeten the deal, the Rams won’t be paying Miller much at all. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Broncos have agreed to pay $9 million of Miller’s remaining $9.7 million salary. As a result, Miller’s cap hit with the Rams will be $722,222, according to Spotrac.
Miller will become a free agent next offseason so he could be a half-year rental for the Rams, but at least he won’t cost them much in salary cap space.
With a charge of only $722,222, Miller will have the 12th-lowest cap hit of any player on the Rams’ roster this season. That’s incredible considering the talent that Miller is and the minimal cost the Rams will incur for acquiring him.

Prior to this trade for Miller, the Rams had about $5.3 million in cap space after restructuring Rob Havenstein’s contract and trading Kenny Young to the Broncos. They had the money to fit most of Miller’s remaining contract under the cap, but they’ll have no trouble doing so now with only $722,222 coming onto their books.
The trade deadline is at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, so it’s possible the Rams have another move left to make – especially with DeSean Jackson on his way out.
