Rams vs. Bengals: Final score prediction for Week 8 matchup

The first half of the Rams’ 2019 season looks very different than their first eight games from last year. A season ago, the Rams were 8-0, standing as the last remaining unbeaten team in the league. They had already beaten teams such as the Chargers, Vikings, Seahawks and Packers, rolling to eight straight wins before the Saints beat them in Week 9.

This season, the Rams sit at 4-3 and in third place in the NFC West. They have a chance to get to 5-3 before their Week 9 bye, but even that record feels unimpressive after seeing what this team accomplished in 2018. Still, it’s better than being 4-4, which all things considered, would be an unacceptable mark.

The Rams are facing the Bengals in London on Sunday, a game which they should absolutely win. The Bengals aren’t quite as bad as the Dolphins, but their offense lacks playmakers and their defense might be the worst in the NFL; it’s 32nd in yards allowed.

Los Angeles enters this contest as 13.5-point favorites. It’s the easiest matchup this team will have all season, and it’s as close to must-win as it gets. It wouldn’t be a statement win by any means – unless the Rams win by 50 points – but it’s a game they must have before the bye.

And it’s a game they will win, for several reasons. The Bengals won’t be able to contain Todd Gurley and Darrell Henderson, having allowed 200-plus rushing yards in three games already this season. Nor will they be able to protect Andy Dalton from Aaron Donald and the Rams’ pass rushers. Cincinnati’s offensive line is terrible and is starting its fourth-string left tackle.

Aaron Donald should feast against Billy Price at left guard, who normally plays center. Dante Fowler Jr. should have another strong performance after racking up three sacks against the Falcons.

Everything in this game leans the Rams’ way, and that’s how the final score will turn out. Los Angeles will win this one by a wide margin, leaving London 5-3 and hitting the midway point of the season above .500.

Final score prediction: Rams 34, Bengals 17
