Rams use coin toss to rub RG3 draft trade in Redskins' faces

Dec. 08--The St. Louis Rams made quite a statement Sunday with a 24-0 thrashing of the Washington Redskins. I think the message was something like, we might have a losing record but we're not nearly as bad as these guys.

Before the game, the Rams made a statement of a different kind by sending out Janoris Jenkins, Michael Brockers, Zac Stacy, Stedman Bailey, Greg Robinson and Alec Ogletree for the coin toss.

Not exactly a who's who of NFL superstars or even Rams standouts.

Their connection? All six were players drafted by the Rams as a result of a 2012 trade that enabled the Redskins to draft quarterback Robert Griffin III, who just happened to be benched for the second straight week and for the second time in his career.

Not sure exactly what kind of statement the Rams were trying to make with this move. Probably something like this.

Aside from Ogletree, who is the team's leading tackler, none of those guys are exactly setting the NFL on fire. But, then again, none of them have had such a high-profile fall from grace as Griffin, who led the Redskins to the playoffs as a rookie before the wheels came off the last two seasons.

Plus, now at 6-7 and winners of three of their last four, the Rams still have an outside shot at making the playoffs. So maybe this was just some sort of motivational tactic by Coach Jeff Fisher.

Why else would the Rams want to look like they're just rubbing it in the faces of the 3-10 Redskins?
