Rams sign Sean McVay, Les Snead to extensions through 2023

The pairing of coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead has brought nothing but success to the Los Angeles Rams, so it’s no surprise the team wants them together for the long haul. On Friday, the Rams announced they have extended McVay and Snead through the 2023 season.

“These are two well-deserved extensions for Sean and Les,” Rams owner Stan Kroenke said in a statement. “Their work ethic, leadership and character are traits we value throughout all our organizations. Sean, Les – along with Kevin Demoff, Tony Pastoors and our entire football and business operation staffs – are committed to building a world-class organization and bringing a Super Bowl to Los Angeles. These extensions are an integral part of that quest. We look forward to having them lead our team as we play our final year in the Coliseum and prepare for our new stadium at Hollywood Park.”

McVay joined the Rams in 2017 and immediately led them to an 11-5 record and a playoff appearance – their first since 2004. He followed that up in 2018 with a 13-3 record and a trip to the Super Bowl, coming up just short against the Patriots.

Snead was hired in 2012 and has served as the GM ever since. He had a part in drafting key players such as Aaron Donald, Todd Gurley, Jared Goff, Cooper Kupp and several others. The Rams have turned into perennial contenders and a big reason for that is Snead’s roster-building ability.

McVay and Snead were at the center of aggressive moves to acquire Brandin Cooks, Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib, as well as Sammy Watkins. They also brought Ndamukong Suh, Eric Weddle and Clay Matthews to L.A., turning the Rams into a free-agent destination.
