Rams sign pass rusher Josh Carraway

The Los Angeles Rams didn’t draft a single edge rusher last week, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t looking for help in that department. After waiving safety Blake Countess on Thursday, the Rams signed outside linebacker Josh Carraway to take his roster spot.

Carraway was a seventh-round pick of the Titans in 2017 out of TCU. He was a two-time All-Big 12 selection with the Horned Frogs, recording 18 career sacks, 26.5 tackles for loss and one interception.

He was waived by the Titans in October 2017, landing on the practice squad until December. He was released by Tennessee last September and was signed to the Redskins’ practice squad two months later.

He’s a great athlete for being 6-foot-3, 242 pounds, running a 4.74 40-yard dash with 25 reps in the bench press at the combine two years ago. His 60-yard shuttle time of 11.71 seconds was among the best at his position.

Carraway hasn’t produced anything in the NFL, suiting up for just one game in two seasons. He fits the mold of a 3-4 outside linebacker, though, so perhaps the Rams can find a way to get him on the field.

Still, faces a tough challenge just to make the 53-man roster this year.
