Rams select RB in 1st round of Todd McShay’s 2020 mock draft

The Los Angeles Rams raised a lot of eyebrows when they traded up 24 spots to select running back Darrell Henderson in the third round of the draft last week. It heightened concerns about Todd Gurley’s injured knee and made many wonder how much longer No. 30 will play.

If that pick sent you into a panic, this projection from Todd McShay won’t make you feel any better. McShay released his first 2020 mock draft on Thursday and with the 29th overall pick, he has the Rams taking Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins.

Yes, another top running back in Los Angeles’ already crowded backfield.

While his yards per carry fell from 7.2 to 4.6 in 2018, Dobbins still broke 1,000 yards and scored 10 times. He is strong and athletic, and with Todd Gurley and Darrell Henderson, the Rams would have the NFL’s most elite backfield.

The Rams’ running back room is already one of the best. It was even without the addition of Henderson last week, simply because Gurley is arguably the top tailback in the NFL when healthy.

Dobbins is a great player and one who will have a major impact at the next level, but the last position the Rams need to address in the first round next year is running back.
