Rams select Penn State safety Nick Scott with 243rd pick in NFL draft

With their penultimate pick in the 2019 NFL draft, the Los Angeles Rams looked toward the defense again. At No. 243 overall, they selected safety Nick Scott out of Penn State.

Scott spent four years with the Nittany Lions, beginning his career as a running back in 2015. He transitioned to the secondary his sophomore season, playing cornerback in 2016.

The last two years at Penn State, he played safety. His best season came in 2018 when he picked off three passes, made 65 total tackles and recorded a sack.

He didn’t get a combine invite, but at Penn State’s pro day, he displayed great speed. He ran a 4.43-second 40-yard dash, also posting the best vertical leap of the day at 41 inches.
