Rams-Seahawks takeaways: Brandon Staley gives Sean McVay a margin for error

The Seahawks laid an egg. That’s really the only way to describe that performance we saw out of the NFC West champions in a 30-20 loss to the Rams on Wild Card Weekend.

The offense, led by a skittish Russell Wilson, looked disjointed all game. The defense was a bit better but gave up too many big plays to a Rams offense that was initially forced to start John Wolford because of Jared Goff’s injury … only to see Wolford leave the game after taking a shot to the head, forcing an ailing Goff back into the lineup.

It was an ugly loss for Pete Carroll and his coaching staff. But the opposite is true for the Rams staff, which put on a masterful performance. The coaching mismatch is what ultimately decided this game. That leads our list of takeaways from the Rams’ surprisingly easy win…
