Von Miller has worn the number 58 throughout his NFL career but he’ll be making a change after being traded to the Rams. The eight-time Pro Bowler will wear a number that’s quite familiar, though.
The Rams announced on Monday that Miller is taking No. 40, which he wore in college at Texas A&M. Justin Hollins currently wears No. 58 with the Rams, so Miller was forced to make the switch.
He received the blessing from the family of Elroy Hirsch to wear No. 40, very kindly asking permission before choosing that number. Hirsch is a Hall of Famer and one of the best receivers to ever play for the Rams.
Sean McVay said Miller is expected to make his Rams debut on Sunday night against the Titans, something Miller himself indicated on Monday, too. His snap count could be limited, however, depending on how quickly he gets up to speed with his new team.
