Rams release cornerback Troy Hill days after his arrest on suspicion of DUI

LOS ANGELES _ Los Angeles Rams cornerback Troy Hill was released Tuesday, three days after he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The Rams also announced that linebacker Josh Forrest was placed on injured reserve, cornerback Dwayne Gratz was released and that cornerback Michael Jordan and linebacker Nic Grigsby were promoted from the practice squad. The Rams signed linebacker Randell Johnson to the practice squad.

Hill, 25, was arrested Saturday after he crashed his white Mercedes Benz into the back of a big rig on the Ventura Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Hill was inactive for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, and coach Jeff Fisher said Monday that he was "very, very disappointed" in Hill but was gathering more information "before I make a decision."

Hill started four games and was fourth on the team with 38 tackles.

The second-year pro was undrafted after playing at Oregon and had stints with the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots before signing with the Rams in the offseason.

Hill made the team with his work on special teams. His improvement in pass coverage contributed to the Rams' decision to release Coty Sensabaugh, who signed a free-agent contract before the season.

Hill is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 14.

Forrest suffered a knee injury in Sunday's 14-10 loss to Miami.
