The Los Angeles Rams went into Sunday’s road game against the Detroit Lions knowing Ford Field would be extremely loud. It was the team’s first home playoff game in 30 years and fans couldn’t contain their excitement.
Playing in such a raucous environment as the road team can be challenging, making it difficult to relay play calls and snap the ball properly without false starts or other infractions. The Rams actually did a nice job avoiding those types of mistakes, though they did have to burn two timeouts because of the crowd noise.
Baker Mayfield and the Bucs will be the next group to visit Ford Field and he reached out to some of his former Rams teammates to find out just how loud it was. He was told by them that it was “the loudest thing they’ve ever heard.”

So just how loud was Ford Field on Sunday? It hit 133.6 decibels, which broke the previous record for the Lions’ home stadium by over 5 decibels, according to MLive.
Ford Field officially topped out at 133.6 decibels for the 24-23 playoff thriller on Sunday night against the Los Angeles Rams, according to the team, smashing the old stadium record of 127.6. That’s equivalant to the sound of a 747 jet engine at takeoff, according to the Center for Disease Control.
So yeah, it was pretty deafening in that building on Sunday.
