Rams players, Sean McVay poke fun at Jared Goff’s failed spike

After his 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, Jared Goff went to celebrate with an emphatic spike just beyond the end zone. It was a good plan, but the execution was subpar, to say the least.

The ball slipped out of Goff’s hand and sailed much further forward than he wanted, turning into more of a throw than a spike. Goff was ribbed for it on social media, with everyone from fans to media members poking fun at the gaffe.

Cooper Kupp was excited about it after the game, simply because Sean McVay will put it on the big screen for tomorrow’s film session.

Johnny Hekker also joined the fun, calling it the worst spike since former CFL quarterback Kerwin Bell hit himself “in the pills” years ago.

Even McVay commented on it after the game and said it’ll be on the highlights in the Rams’ film room.

Goff knows it didn’t go according to plan, laughing it off himself after the game. He said “it wasn’t great” but did add that he has an excuse: the ball was slippery.
