Rams open as underdogs vs. Cowboys in Week 1 home opener

The oddsmakers don’t expect the Rams to open SoFi Stadium with a win. After the full 2020 schedule was released, so too were Week 1 lines for every matchup in the league.

The Rams will host the Cowboys in their season opener, which will also be the first regular-season game at SoFi Stadium. And according to BetMGM, the Rams are 2.5-point underdogs to the Cowboys in that game.

The Cowboys look strong on paper, but there are a lot of variables that make that a somewhat surprising opening line. Dallas has a new head coach, a handful of rookies who are expected to start and will be on the road to open the season.

The Rams will be at the confines of SoFi Stadium, where the hype of opening a new $5 billion building should have players fired up and ready to go. There won’t be any added motivation needed for Los Angeles, which will also be trotting out a new-look defense led by first-year coordinator Brandon Staley.

It’s a tough home opener for the Rams with how good Dallas looks at this point in the offseason – particularly after adding CeeDee Lamb in the draft and Dontari Poe and Gerald McCoy in free agency – but Sean McVay will undoubtedly have his guys ready to go come Sept. 13.
