Rams open as 3.5-point favorites over NFC-leading 49ers in Week 6

For the first time all season last week, the Los Angeles Rams were underdogs. It was understandable considering they were facing a very good Seahawks team on the road, making Seattle a 1.5-point favorite.

The Rams have another test on Sunday against the 4-0 and NFC-leading 49ers, but somewhat surprisingly, they’re not underdogs for the second straight week. That’s right, the 3-2 Rams are favored over the undefeated 49ers.

At BetMGM, the spread opened at 3.5 points in the Rams’ favor. Home teams are typically given a three-point cushion by default, so the oddsmakers see this as a close matchup. Still, San Francisco looks like the better team right now after blowing out the Browns on Monday night, 31-3.

If the 3.5-point spread is scaring you a bit as a bettor, don’t let it. The Rams are 4-1 against the spread this season, which is tied for the best mark in the NFL. The 49ers are 3-1 ATS themselves, too.

As for the over/under, that number is set at 49.5 – the third-highest total of the week. San Francisco’s defense has looked good this season, but the offense is built upon running the football, which eats up the clock and limits opponents’ chances on offense.
