Rams OL Aaron Neary suspended for first 4 games of season

The NFL announced on Friday that Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Aaron Neary has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the regular season. The suspension stems from a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Last September, Neary was arrested for DUI and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.17, more than twice the legal limit.

Neary is not a lock to make the 53-man roster this season, so this isn’t a significant blow to the depth chart. In fact, he already had an uphill climb to sticking with the Rams, considering the team just drafted Bobby Evans and David Edwards.

Given his absence from the first four weeks of the season, the Rams could choose to cut ties with Neary now rather than waiting until late August or September.

If he does make the team, he’ll be eligible to return to the active roster on Monday, Sept. 30.
