Rams injury report: Clay Matthews, Michael Brockers sidelined

The Los Angeles Rams went into the season opener without a single player listed on the injury report for anything other than rest. It was as clean of a list as any in the NFL last week, but that’s not exactly the case heading into Week 2.

Despite Sean McVay saying after the game that everyone came out feeling good (besides Eric Weddle), a couple of players were listed on Wednesday’s injury report. Clay Matthews (back) and Michael Brockers (shoulder) both missed the first practice of the week.

Weddle was also limited due to a concussion, but McVay said he expects the veteran safety to play against the Saints.

It’s unclear how serious the injuries to Matthews and Brockers are, but given the lack of information shared by McVay, it’s unlikely they’re too worrisome.

On the Saints’ side, Sheldon Rankins isn’t expected to be ready before Week 4, but he’s making progress in his recovery from a January Achilles injury. Marcus Williams, Craig Robertson and Mario Edwards were all limited, and Ted Ginn sat out practice due to an illness.
