Rams hope Jalen Ramsey can play vs. Falcons on Sunday

It was looking like the Los Angeles Rams would face Julio Jones, Matt Ryan and the high-powered Falcons offense on Sunday with Troy Hill and either Darious Williams or David Long Jr. starting outside. That was until they struck a deal with the Jaguars for cornerback Jalen Ramsey, bringing him to Los Angeles.

Ramsey has missed the last two weeks with a back injury and was even sent to a specialist, but the hope is that he’ll be ready to suit up for the Rams on Sunday. He’ll not only have to be healthy – which doesn’t seem to be a big hurdle – but also have a strong enough understanding of Wade Phillips’ defense to play at a high level.

The team hopes that can be the case as the Rams will need him Sunday against Jones and Co.

Sean McVay confirmed Wednesday that the goal is for Ramsey to be out there against the Falcons.

The Rams opened as three-point favorites over the Falcons, but this won’t be an easy game for them to win – especially with all the changes they’ve made. As good as Ramsey is, he’ll be in a new system against one of the best receivers in the NFL.

It’s optimistic to think he’ll be his usual self this weekend, but he’ll still be an upgrade over any of the other corners Los Angeles might have to start.
