John Wolford made headlines last week when he was named the Rams’ starting quarterback in place of an injured Jared Goff. It completed Wolford’s unorthodox path to the NFL, which included a job on Wall Street, a stint in the AAF and being cut by the Jets in 2018.
There were questions about whether Wolford could succeed and lead the Rams to a playoff berth against the Cardinals in Week 17, given his lack of experience and the Rams’ missing players on both sides of the ball.
But Wolford answered the bell and played better than even the Rams probably could have expected. He made a number of great throws well beyond the line of scrimmage, like this one that should’ve been caught for a touchdown.

And although his numbers were nothing to write home about (231 yards passing, zero touchdowns, one interception), Wolford showed he has what it takes to make it in the NFL.
We broke down his performance with clips from Sunday’s game, using the all-22 and end zone angles to see exactly how Wolford played. You’ll find some of his best plays of the afternoon, as well as some he wishes he had back.
