Rams fans react to John Wolford wearing Kurt Warner’s old number

For the second time in the last few months, John Wolford has made a number change. After switching from No. 9 to 3 when Matthew Stafford arrived, Wolford then had to change his number again when Cam Akers went from No. 23 to 3.

With few viable choices remaining, Wolford is going with an iconic number in the eyes of Rams fans: 13. It’s a number that was made famous by Kurt Warner in St. Louis after he led the Rams to two Super Bowls, winning one of them.

The Rams announced the change on Twitter and fans’ reactions were mixed. Some were shocked to learn 13 wasn’t retired by the team, while others love the choice by Wolford.

Here are some of the responses on social media.

For those outraged by Wolford wearing No. 13, he’s not the first player to rock it since Warner’s departure. Brock Berlin wore it in 2008, Chris Givens did too from 2012-2014, and Mike Thomas most recently wore No. 13 in 2016.

So let’s all take a deep breath before getting heated about a backup quarterback wearing Warner’s old number.
