Rams fall in Week 3 power rankings, but not out of the top 10

Week 3 did not go according to plan for the Rams. They were hoping to leave Buffalo and head back home with a 3-0 record, keeping pace with the Seahawks in the NFC West. But the Bills had other plans, knocking off the Rams 35-32 in a dramatic late-game thriller.

So instead, the Rams are 2-1 and licking their wounds after a heartbreaking loss to an undefeated Bills team. But even as much as the loss hurts, the Rams are in great shape moving forward.

They still look like one of the 10 best teams in the league and have a much more favorable schedule coming up against the likes of the Giants, Washington and Dolphins. Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire still views the Rams as a top-10 team, only dropping them from No. 5 to the eighth spot in his latest power rankings.

Here’s part of what Farrar wrote about the Rams.

Well, give the Rams credit. On the same day that the Falcons blew their second straight seemingly insurmountable lead, Sean McVay’s team nearly did to the Bills what the Patriots did to the Falcons in Super Bowl LI — take a 28-3 lead, and shove it right down your opponent’s throat.

The Seahawks are the only NFC West team ahead of the Rams in this week’s power rankings (No. 5), with the Cardinals dropping all the way to No. 16 from the ninth spot after losing to the Lions. The 49ers moved up from 17 to No. 11 after knocking off the Giants without seemingly half their starters.

The Bills jumped from No. 6 to No. 3 with their win over the Rams, so it’s hardly a bad loss by L.A. considering the opponent.
