Rams DT Michael Brockers to miss game vs. Cardinals, was placed on COVID reserve

The Los Angeles Rams will be down another player this weekend as they face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17. The latest is defensive tackle Michael Brockers.

The team announced Brockers was placed on the COVID-19 reserve on Thursday, which means he either tested positive for the virus or it was determined he had close contact with someone who did.

Even if he is on the list only because of close contact, he will miss the game. League protocols require a player to be away from the team at least five days and have no positive tests in that time before he can be reinstated. That rules out Sunday’s game.

The Rams already will be without starting quarterback Jared Goff, who had thumb surgery, running back Darrell Henderson, who was placed on injured reserve and receiver Cooper Kupp, who tested positive for the virus. They also could be without running back Cam Akers, who is recovering from a high ankle sprain.

Brockers has started every game this season for the Rams and has posted 51 tackles, five for loss, five sacks and 10 quarterback hits.
