Rams COO: Aaron Donald case shows it’s ‘always good to let situations play out’

Aaron Donald was accused of assault last week following an altercation outside a party in Pittsburgh that left a man, DeVincent Spriggs, with several injuries. However, a few days later, surveillance video from the scene surfaced after it was obtained by Donald’s lawyer. It seems to show Donald pushing people away from the victim, and that he didn’t harm Spriggs himself.

Spriggs’ attorney then issued an apology to Donald, saying “I clearly know this was not him.” The situation is still developing but as of now, it appears the video evidence vindicates Donald of any wrongdoing.

Rams COO Kevin Demoff commented on the case over the weekend and said this is why the team let it play out rather than jumping to conclusions.

“I think we’re in an era of cell phones and videos,” Demoff said, via the Los Angeles Daily News. “I think one of the things, it’s always good to let situations play out. That’s true in a particular time like this, when it appears to vindicate the player, and it’s true, unfortunately, if it hadn’t.

“I think it’s cliché to say we’ll let the legal process play out. This is one where it may have happened quickly. We will see how it concludes. I think we’ll just continue to let the story unfold the way it is.”

Being a Pittsburgh native, Donald has been training there this offseason, as he typically does each year.
