Rams coach Sean McVay provides update on Stetson Bennett

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay provided a positive update on former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett.

The Rams placed Bennett on the reserve/non-football injury list over a week ago. Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay would not provide details on Bennett’s situation.

However, recently McVay did share that Bennett is doing well.

He’s doing really well, which I was really encouraged to able to hear. Got a change to hear his voice and he sounds really good, and that was really cool to hear.

The Los Angeles Rams ruled Bennett out in Week 1 due to a right shoulder injury. However, McVay shared that Bennett was placed on the non-football injury list for reasons outside of his shoulder injury.

Bennett had an up-and-down preseason for the Rams, but made Los Angeles’ final roster. The former Georgia Bulldog capped his college football career with back-to-back national championships.

Brett Rypien, who started a few games for the Denver Broncos last season, has served as Los Angeles’ backup quarterback behind Matthew Stafford to start the year.

Bennett was the 128th pick of the 2023 NFL draft. He was expected to be the Rams’ backup quarterback when healthy, but he will have to miss at least three more weeks since he is on the reserve/non-football injury list.

McVay adamantly refused to note the exact reason Bennett was on the non-football injury list over a week ago. The Rams are 1-1 in 2023 after finishing third in the NFC West with a 5-12 record last year.

Los Angeles plays the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3.
