Rams coach rips ‘pretty boy’ Tom Brady before Super Bowl LIII

When the most important characters are wearing microphones for a football game, they’re sensitive to what they say. But that doesn’t mean the people around them filter their comments.

Before Super Bowl LIII, Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay was standing next to Rams assistant linebackers coach Chris Shula, who threw out an off-handed remark during warm-ups.

“Brady’s such a [expletive] pretty boy,” Shula said.

“He looks like what you’re supposed to, right?” McVay said in response, evidently uncomfortable and perhaps realizing his coaching assistant had created a provocative soundbite.

The pretty boy went on to beat the Rams, 13-3, while completing 60 percent of his passes for 271 yards with an interception. Brady wasn’t brilliant, but he squeaked out a not-so-pretty win over Shula and the Rams.
